Everyone in my school is doing New Years Resolutions.

Do you feel that they actually do work? I am a 16 year old teen. I would like my resolution to be to lose weight. However in the past I seem just to go up and down. Losing way too much weight.

Is the “so called” New Years Resolutions a good thing for me or is there another way for me to achieve my goals??

I for one in my many years have learned that New Years Resolutions work for nobody. In a matter of less then a month all the hype just doesn’t work.

In our society today we have learned that to fit in we need to follow certain paths that pave our society. This is not the case now.

Our lifstyles have changed for the better in the last decade. Instead of having a “New Years Resolution”
I believe it would be better to make a life change towards food and diet. Change your mind set
and just go with the basic’s of eating healthy and exercising. This shall always work,
You just have to put your first foot forward and the rest will follow. Also you might want
to keep a log or diary of food and exercising to see progress.

Dear Shazzam,

I am in 7th grade. I like this boy Shane a lot. My friends say he is just
my first “crush”. But, I am a little confused about what a “crush” is?

For he likes me too. So some friends are telling me it’s “puppy love”.
But, I thought “puppy love” was when you’re younger, cause, we
do go and hangout along with going to the movies.

Is it really just a “crush”?

The Asian Idol reality singing competition, which featured winners of Idol competitions from six Southeast and South Asian countries including: India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.

The competiton was held on December 15 and 16, 2007 in Jakarta, Indonesia.


Singapore Idol Hady Mirza won the Asian Idol 2007 competition after singing Beautiful Day in English and Berserah (Holding on) in his native language.

NZ Idol, more commonly known as New Zealand Idol, was the New Zealand version of the Idol series originated as the hit British TV series Pop Idol.


After 3 seasons NZ Idol has been put on hold.

Matthew Saunoa won season 3 of NZ Idol.

Idols is a television show on the South African television networks M-Net and Kyknet, based on the popular British show Pop Idol. So far there have been 5 seasons.

On the official finale for Season 5 which took place on Sunday, 1 February 2009 Sasha Lee Davids was announced the winner, (52.77% of the votes). 4 days later, Idols announced that there had been problems with the voteline, and some of the votes that were sent before the cut-off time were not counted.


A recount showed that Jason Hartman had received 200,000 more votes than Sasha Lee Davids (of 2.3 million total votes in the finale (recount)). In the end, Jason Hartman and Sasha Lee Davids were declared winners. They both received identical full prizes!

Singapore Idol is a competition among undiscovered singers in Singapore. Like others in the Idol series, it is modelled after Pop Idol.

Season 3 will premiere after the National Day Parade segment on August 09, 2009, 8.30pm.


Returning host Gurmit Singh will co-host with Singapore Idol 2 winner Hady Mirza.

Based on the international Idol series format, launched by UK show Pop Idol, Indian Idol is a popular show on Indian television, a singing talent contest to determine the best undiscovered young singer in the country.

After four years of its running, Indian Idol finally got its first female winner – Sourabhee Debbarma, who won the grand finale of the fourth season of the TV programme in Mumbai.

Malaysian Idol- One in a Million is the Malaysian version of the Idol Series that started in UK, similar to shows such as UK’s Pop Idol and American Idol in the franchise.


The show is a contest to determine the best young singer in Malaysia, with the winner receiving a major record deal, although some runners-up have achieved enough fame to ink record deals of their own.

The show had 2 series as then was followed by the show One in a Million with the season 3 winner – Shah Indrawan Ismail (Tomok).
